waiting...

there are so many things that require a "waiting" period. a period when nothing seems to be happening on the outside, but God is working. although it gets frustrating sometimes, this is when i feel i grow the most spiritually. it's in times like these that i really learn that God is enough. that he satisfies even the deepest longings of my heart. that he is consistent and that he stays true to his word. always. there are 7,000 promises in the bible that God will take care of me. how comforting it is to be able to cling to those precious promises while going through a waiting period. right now, i'm waiting for uganda. to read what my brother is doing and actually see the pictures and hear him tell the stories is making my heart for that country bigger and bigger. it's refreshing to know that jay is exactly where God wants him. he was welcomed with open arms and has been making such an impact in the lives of so many; yet at the same time they have impacted him. i love it. it's hard to wait. but while i wait, i pray. i pray that we, as christians, can be consistent in everything we do. inconsistency causes so much confusion, which we all know is not a characteristic of the Lord. i also pray that we can be people of our word. if we say we are going to do something, do it. "simply let your yes be yes and your no be no" (matthew 5:37). for whatever reason, these are the two things that i long for in all relationships; whether it is with my family, friends, someone i just met, or a future relationship such as the one i will have with my husband. be consistent and be a person of your word. these i desire. these i try to give.

"be still, and know that i am God;
i will be exalted among the nations,
i will be exalted in the earth."
~psalm 46:10
